Vietnam Airlines has announced to offer more flights from Hanoi and HCMC to famous tourism destinations like Nha Trang, Dalat, Danang and Hue in order to serve the increased demand for traveling in summer 2007.
From June 1 to August 31, Vietnam Airlines will raise the flight frequency on several domestic routes. The carrying capacity on tourism air routes is expected to increase by 22-100% over the same period of 2006.
Vietnam Airlines will provide six instead of four flights a day on HCMC – Danang – HCMC. The seats to be available will rise from 800 to 1,200 a day. The passengers flying from Hanoi to Danang will also have more choices as there will be five instead of three flights a day with the seats rising from 600 to 1,000. Boeing 777, A330, A321 and A320 will be used for these two routes.
As for the HCMC – Nha Trang air route, there will be five flights a day instead of three as currently, with A320 and A321 planes. Meanwhile, there will be two flights available a day from Hanoi to Nha Trang, with A320 and A321.
The air carrier will raise the number of flights from Hanoi and HCMC to Hue to three and four a day respectively. Passengers will fly with A320, A321 and ATR-72.
There will be five flights a day with ATR-72 on HCMC – Phu Quoc – HCMC, two flights a day with A320 on Hanoi – Haiphong – Hanoi, one flight a day with A320/A321 on Hanoi – Dalat – Hanoi. Nine flights will depart from HCMC to Dalat every day with ATR-72 and Fokker 70.
Vietnam Airlines will also provide four flights a week with A320 on Hanoi – Buon Ma Thuot – Hanoi.
With the new flight schedule, several flights departing from Hanoi to Danang, Nha Trang and Hue City will take off earlier than the previous schedule. The earliest flight will depart from Hanoi at 5.30 am.
Pham Ngoc Minh, Deputy Director General of Vietnam Airlines, said that the air carrier decided to raise the flight frequency to serve the increased demand for traveling in the tourism season. This will also help avoid the hotel room rate increases. Foreign travellers to Vietnam can go directly to the excursion points with no need to stay in cities.
