Vietnam receives global praise as a destination spot

Recent results from the annual “Asia Travel Intentions Survey 2007”, jointly conducted by Visa International Asia Pacific (Visa) and the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), have shown that Vietnam has gained global popularity as a destination in the last year.  Just over 30% of the respondents said that they would visit Vietnam in the next two years, which represents a 7% increase from 2006.

The study, which surveyed 5,000 people from 10 major global tourism markets, showed that Vietnam’s increased popularity was driven by its reasonably priced good and services.  This reason attracted the highest number of responses, with 49% of respondents commenting that such a reason motivated future travel plans.

Vietnam’s natural beauty came in at a close second, with 44% of respondents choosing the country for its surroundings, 41% chose the country for its culture, 38% for adventure tourism and 35% found the country to be highly hospitable.
